Best
of All Worlds
by Brent Arthur James Geris, Bob Postelnik and Duppy
Demetrius
When
Brent Geris asked us if we would like to carry the Best of All Worlds
Book, we jumped at the opportunity right away. Out of This World
is probably Norm’s favorite close-up card trick. (It is one
of mine too!)
The
Out of This World effect was invented by Paul Curry in the 1940s.
In case you are not familiar with it, the basic effect is that the
magician hands a spectator a mixed deck of cards, and the spectator
simply deals the cards face down into two piles. When the cards
are turned over, it is revealed that he has accurately divided the
piles into red and black cards. To accomplish this feat the odds
are staggering, and this is what makes this effect so impossible
and magical in the spectator’s mind.
The
authors, Brent Geris, Bob Postelnik and Duppy Demetrius have done
an outstanding job in compiling over 30 different routines for this
effect, submitted by the world’s leading magicians. The book
is full of the history of this effect along with various insights
and tips from the performers. Some of the contributors include performers
like Allan Ackerman, Jon Armstrong, Max Maven, Michael Weber, Juan
Tamariz, Daryl, Richard Kaufman and many, many more.
Finally,
the book is beautifully designed – with a gorgeous dust jacket,
high quality paper and easy to read type.
This
is the definitive tome on this classic magic effect, and will be
a great addition to your library.
(Hardbound
with dust jacket – 377 pages)
