Adelaide Herrmann - Queen of Magic
by Adelaide Herrmann (edited by Margaret Steele)
These are the memoirs of one the most remarkable female magicians of the 20th century: Adelaide Herrmann. Mme Herrmann started her magic career as Alexander Herrmann's wife and assistant, after Herrmann's passing, her solo career spanned over thirty years.
Adelaide Herrmann's memoirs "disappeared" for seventy eight years. Due to the difficulty of finding a publisher during the Great Depression, her niece stored them away in a safe place. These would eventually end up in a descendant's closet until July 2010, when Margaret Steele found them.
Margaret Steele does an excellent job in compiling all the material and sharing it with us. The book includes the entire memoir manuscript, the transcription of her five known magazine articles, and several interviews and letters to newspapers. Also included are very rare photographs and memorabilia of the performer that have never been seen before.
It is guaranteed that you will not be able to put this book down. It is written in a conversational style, and it will give you great insight into the magic career of Alexander and Adelaide Herrmann.
